Privacy Policy for WiselyNote

WiselyNote (“the extension”) helps users create structured study notes from user-provided materials in Gemini and manage note history in the Chrome side panel.
1) Data We Process
We process only the data needed to provide the extension's single purpose.
a) User-provided study content
- Voice recordings and transcription text
- Uploaded document content (for example PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, MD)
- Web links submitted by the user
- Prompts sent to Gemini through the extension workflow
b) Generated output and note metadata
- Generated study-note text
- Note titles, timestamps, folder assignments, and anchor metadata used to reopen the exact response later
c) Google Docs metadata (user-initiated)
- Document URL and title for Google Docs items the user chooses to add/manage from the extension workflow
d) Local extension state
- Notes list, folder structure, conversion status, and UI state stored in Chrome extension storage
Important:
- User-provided content may include personal communications or personally identifiable information if the user includes such data in uploaded materials or voice/text inputs.
- We do not collect passwords, PINs, payment card data, or precise location data.

- We do not run ad tracking or cross-site behavioral profiling.
2) How We Use Data
We use data only to provide WiselyNote features:
- Convert user-provided materials into structured study notes in Gemini
- Save and organize note history in the side panel
- Support folders, renaming, search, and anchor-based return to exact past responses
- Keep conversion state synchronized in the extension UI
3) Data Sharing and Transfers
We do not sell user data.
We share/transmit data only when necessary to provide requested functionality:
- Gemini pages/services, when the user asks WiselyNote to generate notes
- Google Docs pages/services, when the user opens or manages Docs through WiselyNote actions
We do not use or transfer user data for advertising, profiling, or data brokerage.
4) Data Retention
- Local extension state remains on the user’s device until deleted by the user or removed by uninstalling the extension.
- Content submitted to Gemini or Google Docs is handled under those services’ own retention policies.
- We do not operate a separate developer-hosted database for storing user note content.
5) Security
WiselyNote uses HTTPS-based communication with required Google services.
No remote executable code is fetched and executed by the extension.
Extension code and packaged assets are bundled with the published extension package.
6) User Controls
Users can:
- Delete notes and folders in the extension
- Remove extension data by uninstalling the extension (or clearing extension storage)
- Manage Google account/session access directly through Google and Chrome settings
7) Children's Privacy
WiselyNote is not specifically directed to children under 13.
8) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by a revised effective date.
